Disney Cruise Line will embrace adventure as the theme of its next cruise ship, the Disney Treasure, by borrowing storylines from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel films and introducing Disney theme park attractions to the sea.

Following the debut of the Disney Wish in 2022, the Disney Treasure's adventure theme will celebrate Walt Disney's love for exploration, the company said late last year.

The theme is also part of the cruise line's strategy to create unique personalities for each of the line's new ships, Pam Rawlins, executive producer of Walt Disney Imagineering, said during a media briefing to release new ship details. In that way, the ship will have a similar deck plan, but be different from, its sister the Wish.

The Disney Treasure, due out on Dec. 21, 2024, will feature spaces paying homage to classic films, such as a two-story theater dedicated to "The Lion King" with designs inspired by the savanna. The Treasure's Grand Hall, Disney's version of an atrium, will be themed to the film "Aladdin."

Magical dining venues

The line will roll out new bar and restaurant concepts on the ship, such as Plaza de Coco, a theater-in-the-round dining experience based in a fictional town and picking up where the Disney and Pixar film "Coco" left off. The line will also brand its sweetshop Jumbeaux's Sweets, inspired by Disney's "Zootopia."

The Treasure will also include venues from classic Disney's theme park rides.

One is the Skipper Society, a bar with nods to the Jungle Cruise attraction at several Disney theme parks. The line will also introduce a submarine-styled bar called the Periscope Pub, dedicated to the 1954 film "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," which served as inspiration for a Walt Disney World attraction for more than two decades before closing in 1994.

The 4,000-passenger ship will also introduce a Marvel dining experience, although the line declined to go into detail during the media briefing. Other spaces include the Marvel Superhero Academy, Walt Disney Imaginary Lab and the Star Wars Cargo Bay, where kids can play the role of creature handlers.

The return of AquaMouse and Disney-style entertainment

Like the Disney Wish that debuted last year, the Treasure will include the AquaMouse two-person water coaster ride. On the Treasure, the ride will propel guests through 760 feet of tunnels and intermix a new storyline that follows Mickey Mouse and Minnie on an adventure into an ancient temple.

The ship will offer three Broadway-style shows, including "Beauty and the Beast" and "Disney Seas the Adventure," with a third show yet to be announced.

More details on the Treasure's cabins

The Treasure's multilevel penthouse suite is also inspired by Disney's theme parks. The eight-person, 2,000-square-foot Tomorrow Tower suite will take its influence from Epcot and feature futuristic designs.

Other cabins wave at themes from other Disney movies such as "Aladdin," "The Lion King" and "Jungle Cruise."
