SECAUCUS, N.J. -- Media veteran Bruce Shulman will be retiring on October 1 as senior vice president/group publisher of the Retail Travel Group, in one of several executive announcements made today by Northstar Travel Group. Shulman's portfolio includes Travel Weekly, TravelAge West, the Ultimate Hotel Guide, World of Luxury and Family Getaways.  He has been in sales and publishing roles at Northstar since 2000, having moved to Travel Weekly 15 years ago from Northstar's Hotel & Travel Index.

Prior to his time in media sales, Shulman had a successful career in hospitality management.  He will continue in a part-time strategic advisory role for Travel Weekly and TravelAge West to ensure a seamless transition.

"Bruce set the bar high for the brands he led," said Robert Sullivan, President of Northstar's Travel Group, "and his leadership has positioned both the teams and the titles he oversaw for continued growth and success.

Shulman, who will continue in a part-time advisory role after retiring, has been in sales and publishing roles at Northstar since 2000. He spent 15 of the past 19 years with Travel Weekly.

His successor, Carnevale, distinguished himself by developing unique integrated marketing and communications programs, and he helped drive the success of digital products and platforms, events and marketing services.

Associate publisher Jay Nelson, meanwhile, will be promoted within the Retail Group to vice president, business development/strategic accounts and will work closely with Carnevale in handling key account initiatives across both brands.

Lindsay Straub, a business development director in the BTN Group, will become that division's associate publisher.
