Airlines that had not already done so have now extended Maui travel waivers through at least Tuesday, as the island continues to battle wildfires that have destroyed whole neighborhoods.

United Airlines issued the most substantial change on Friday morning, extending waiver eligibility for bookings to or from Maui's Kahului Airport through Oct. 1. For flights scheduled until then, flyers can rebook without paying any fare difference.

The carrier also made several other changes to its previous waiver. Travel that had been scheduled for Honolulu is no longer part of the wavier. United's newest waiver also doesn't offer a refund option for Maui flights that are not canceled by the airline, but it is now allowing travelers to avoid a fare differential on rebookings to Honolulu, Hilo, Kona or Kauai's Lihue, instead of only to Maui.

Southwest has also extended waiver eligibility for Maui flyers, with bookings through Sept. 4 now eligible for a change without a fare differential. Previously, eligibility had applied to bookings through Aug. 14.

Similarly, Hawaiian extended its Maui waiver eligibility to include bookings through Aug. 31 from the earlier sunset of Aug. 20. American has extended waiver eligibility to include customers who had been slated to fly to or from Maui until Aug. 18. Delta's waiver now applies to Maui bookings through Aug. 15.

Alaska's waiver remained unchanged Friday morning from Thursday morning and continues to apply to Maui bookings through Aug. 15.

Hawaiian and American are now the only airlines allowing refunds as part of their Maui waivers.
